UPI checkout, specified and shipped in the B2B platform

The riskiest part of adding payments was the checkout itself. So it was proven on the company's own teams, who already paid for fuel on the platform every day, before any customer relied on it.

Role
Product Manager, FuelBuddy
Setting
B2B fuel platform, India
Type
Payments, 0→1

Problem

The B2B platform needed digital payments. The riskiest component was the checkout itself: UPI Intent and QR flows, failure handling and reconciliation against orders. Shipping it untested would have meant finding the failure cases in front of customers.

Evidence

The B2B platform already had daily users inside the company who paid for fuel on it. Every unknown in the checkout spec could be tested with them at no acquisition cost: intent hand-offs, failed-payment states and reconciliation against orders.

Decision

Specify the checkout for the B2B platform and pilot it internally first, with FuelBuddy's own teams in Gurugram, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and smaller clusters in Odisha, so the payment stack was proven before wider rollout.

Result

2,000+ UPI transactions in month one of the internal pilot, and the failure and reconciliation paths got real traffic before any customer relied on them.

Alongside it

Partnered with the GM and CEO on Project Arjun, an EV and oil & gas retail infrastructure plan built on 100+ fleet and EV operator interviews; plan approved by leadership.
